To the Rolfes Family,

Thank you for all you did to make David's funeral memorable. Jimmy did
such a great presentation of the eulogy and the Dali Museum was
wonderful. I especially appreciate the loving attention you all gave to
the people that were there.

Sweet David

David, sweet David. We will miss him. I remember him so well as a little boy with big brown eyes and the world's thickest eyelashes. No surprise that he grew up to be such a handsome, talented man. What a loss for all those who loved him.

A note from Harry & Shirley Hall

David grew up across the street from us in St. Petersburg, Florida.

We remember him and his brother Harvey as they grew up and attended Rio Vista Elementary School. God bless his mother and entire family.

A note from Juliette Fincher Minutaglio

I went to Campbell Park Elementary School with Dave and reconnected with him when I moved to Atlanta in 1996. He was a unique spirit, a good person and very talented. I will remember his smile and his laugh. My thoughts are with all of you.

A note from Brian Kelly

We'd always talk about art. From when we first met in Mrs. Gasper's classes at ccc until the last time we spoke on the phone there was always art; what we were each making, the process of making. Although those conversations became less frequent over the years they were always the same. 'How's it going?' followed quickly by 'what are you working on?' and we'd take turns talking about drawings, doodles, projects, things we've seen. There were at times a year or more between these conversations but because they were forged in our youth we'd always pick up right where we left off as if only days had passed.

We'd also laugh. Dave had one of the single greatest laughs of all time. It was infectious. It would start off with low short bursts and quickly escalate to this high pitched staccato that was hilariously mismatched considering how big he was. I'll miss that laugh and would pay handsomely to hear it again.

Thanks for being you Dave. You were an inspiration to me from the beginning. An inspiration to make things and to see things and to keep on doing, to keep on making and for that I thank you and will forever think of you when i pick up a pencil or a brush.

My condolences to Harvey, to Michelle his wife, the entire Rolfes family and all the people Dave inspired.
